Purpose of Our Employee Mentorship Program

To successfully integrate every new member of the DLM family into our unique culture, innovative structure and open work environment.

The DLM Employee Mentorship Programme prides itself on the timely & successful integration of new hires into the fast-paced environment of DLM.

A new hire upon completing their administrative integration procedures is first tasked with studying the firm’s transaction manual, in order to gain a soft understanding of the day-to-day processes and the types of transactions undertaken. This is particularly important if it is the employees entre into Investment Banking.

Subsequently, the employee is paired with a senior colleague and is tasked with shadowing this senior colleague to get a better understanding of the processes and duties involved in the work. While shadowing, the employee is given the documentations of previous transactions; also, in line with gaining a better understanding of the type of transactions we carry out and our modus operandi. At this juncture, it is expected that the new hire will approach the senior colleague with any questions, insights, or suggestions they might have.

DLM takes pride in having a very friendly work environment, where questions are encouraged and knowledge sharing is expected and respected. As the employee grows more competent; tasks of increasing complexity will be assigned (under supervision) to them. The employee is expected to be fully accountable for all progress as it concerns assigned tasks.

More experienced hires also informally undergo the employee mentorship program. It is crucial for the employee even though they might have the technical know-how, to be mentored into the organization culture which is a big factor as to why DLM is what it is. It is expected that after a sustained period under the program they would have imbibed the culture.

The purpose of the employee mentorship program is two-fold:

To boost technical competence

To immerse the employee in and subsequently have the employee imbibe the company culture

This mentorship programme continues informally until said new hire becomes a mentor themselves.
